Why to Delegate? Solve This Problem.

Many of you many not be aware about the use of delegation in your life. Most of the people are applying dlegation techniques only because they are not aware about its existence. Now let me show you a simple problem that will help you understand well about how much helpfull will be the practice of delegation in your life.

Solve This Problem

One man is driving down the road in his car on a wild, stormy night, when he pass by a bus stop and he see three people waiting for the bus
  • An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
  • An old friend who once saved his life.
  • His beloved wife
Knowing that there can only be one passenger in his car, whom should he choose?

When I gave this problem to the members who attended in my delegation workshops they gave me different answers.

Some said that we would save the old lady as she is in an emergency. Some others told that we can leave her as there is no hop that we can save her, so he should adopt his wife.

What is your answer?

I would say, the old lady of course! After helping the old lady into the car, you can give your keys to your friend, and wait with your perfect partner for the bus

If I would be asking them this question at the end of my workshop, they would have thought in this way. But I always ask this question in the beginning itself and start my workshop soon after this with the following moral.

Moral : When we see somany problems infrond of us, we start to worry thinking how can I solve these all. We never think about  leaving the seat where we are and handing over the key to someone else.

Yes, that is delegation. “The distribution of responsibility and authority to others while holding them accountable for their performance.”
